RETICLE A DAY
So, I’m attempting A Thing™ over on my Tumblr.

A weirdly disproportionate percentage of my for-hire design work in comics seems to involve creating science-fictiony targeting reticles. Not sure why, but I seem to do a lot of them—in issues of Lazarus (now Lazarus Risen) comic series for sure, but they’ve appeared in other stuff, too (notably a really nice Nicola Scott Wonder Woman cover and the DVD/Blu-Ray packaging for DC's Legends of Tomorrow, to my delight).

I also happen to enjoy making them, and have been known to sell them as vector stock art for personal and commercial use.

For the month of March, I’m going to post a new reticle design, daily. At the end of the month, I’ll release the whole set as vector stock art, for a nominal fee. (Typically, I sell the sets for $5 ea, and that’s clear for royalty-free use in, as I mentioned, personal and commercial products.) [Update: On the advice of friends, I've decided to make each reticle available for sale when I publish 'em, for $1. I'm on the fence about eventually collecting them all.]

I’ve set myself a few rules:

1. Each design is new, and not repurposed or altered versions of elements of prior designs. Any similarities that may occur are accidental/coincidental.

2. I will not work too far ahead. My schedule and lack of internet access at home means that I’ll need to schedule a few posts here ahead of time, but I’ve limited myself to working fast.

3. If I miss a day of posting, I’ll increase the number of posts the following day. So, if events conspire to make me miss a day (deadline crunch, technical issue, unscheduled sick day at home sans internet, etc.), you’ll get two the following day.

I hope you’ll check it out and enjoy me exercising one of my many unmarketable skills. ;)
And if you SHOULD want to check out some of my prior work, you can find my stuff here
31 Days, 31 reticles posted to my Tumblr, plus a few spares that will end up in the eventual collection.
